9781855663220 23 L'editorial Tamesis Books (imprint de Boydell & Breuwer) acaba de publicar el volum The Classical Tradition in Medieval Catalan, 1300-1500: Translation, Imitation and Literacy, on es proposa el primer estudi de conjunt sobre la recepció de la tradició clàssica a les lletres catalanes medievals, a càrrec de Lluís Cabré, Alejandro Coroleu Montserrat Ferrer, Albert Lloret i Josep Pujol.

"This book offers the first comprehensive study of the reception of the classical tradition in medieval Catalan letters, a multilingual process involving not only Latin and Catalan, but also neighbouring vernaculars like Aragonese, Castilian, French, and Italian. The authors survey the development of classical literacy from the twelfth-century Aragonese royal courts until the arrival of the printing press and the dissemination of Italian Humanism. Aimed at students and scholars of medieval and early modern Iberia - and anyone interested in medieval Romance literatures and the classical tradition - this volume also provides a concise introduction to the medieval Crown of Aragon, a catalogue of translations into Catalan of texts from classical antiquity through the Italian Renaissance, and a critical study of the influence of the classics in five major works: Bernat Metge's Lo somni, Joanot Martorell's Tirant lo Blanc, the anonymous Curial e Güelfa, Ausiàs March's poetry, and Joan Roís de Corella's prose."

Novetat bibliogràfica "Literature of the Crusades"

9781843844587 6 L'editorial Boydell & Breuwer acaba de publicar el volum Literature of the Crusades, on es proposa una nova visió multidisplinar de les fonts de coneixement sobre les croades, especialment les literàries. Editat per Simon T. Parsons i Linda Paterson, el llibre conté treballs de: Simon John, Carlo Sweetenham, Stephen J. Spencer, Simon Parson, Luca Barbieri, Miriam Cabré, Anna Radaelli, Charmaine Lee, Jean Dunbabin i Helen J. Nicholson.

"The interrelation of so-called "literary" and "historical" sources of the crusades, and the fluidity of these categorisations, are the central concerns of the essays collected here. They demonstrate what the study of literary texts can do for our historical understanding of the crusading movement, challenging earlier historiographical assumptions about well-known poems and songs, and introducing hitherto understudied manuscript sources which elucidate a rich contemporary compositional culture regarding the matter of crusade.
The volume discusses a wide array of European textual responses to the medieval crusading movement, from the Plantagenet and Catalan courts to the Italy of Charles of Anjou, Cyprus, and the Holy Land. Meanwhile, the topics considered include the connexions between poetry and history in the Latin First Crusade texts; the historical, codicological and literary background to Richard the Lionheart's famous song of captivity; crusade references in the troubadour Cerverí of Girona; literary culture surrounding Charles of Anjou's expeditions; the use of the Mélusine legend to strengthen the Lusignans' claim to Cyprus; and the influence of aristocratic selection criteria in manuscript traditions of Old French crusade songs. These diverse approaches are unified in their examination of crusading texts as cultural artefacts ripe for comparison across linguistic and thematic divides."

Jornada Internacional "Curial e Güelfa: Una novel·la cavalleresca en un context italià"

'Translatar' i 'transferir' són dos dels termes gairebé sinònims que en català medieval designaven un conjunt d'operacions, que avui ens semblen molt diverses, relacionades amb la trasmissió de textos doctrinals, científics i literaris: de la còpia material fins a la traducció de continguts d'una llengua a una altra, passant per la difusió de coneixements en sentit ampli.
